It’s because aggressive, annoying, arrogant, obtuse, selfish sales people ruin the title for everyone else.  People want to be educated, informed, assisted, supported, and respected — not sold to.  Most sales people don’t do those things.

It’s the grease… I like that part of the post….I always get a chuckle from conversations that I am in or around when people talk about how they don’t need sales people.  Sales people come in many different forms and fashions.  On this blog most of the talk is focused on BtoB sales.  But think about all the other “sales” people that are in the business world and are just called something else.  CEO’s are sales people.  CFO’s and COO’s are sales people as well with Wall Street or investors.  Those tech blogs that everyone reads to see what the next hot app or software is, they are sales people.  Investment Bankers are sales people.  CIA field officers are sales people…. on and on….

I proudly have the title of Sales Director and put it on every email that goes out.  Our profession is one to be proud of.  Does it have its bad apples and probably more than our fair share?  Sure.  Is it likely the hardest job in all of business?  Sure.  But I wouldn’t want to do anything else!

I agree with  Brian totally. I love your post by the way. It’s because of the people Brian mentioned. Who would want to be associated with those type of salesmen. It’s a shame that they pollute the pool. I love the art of making a deal!
